From sun to shiny seas, sandy beaches and chlorine/salt water pools, being a Mermaid is tough on the skin and hair. No joke. It seems the real treasure hunt for a mermaid is to find natural based products that not only maintain and enhance our beauty, but also don’t add on to the harshness of other everyday toxins to us or our environment.

Enter The Righteous Line.

Freshly packaged citrus scrub with labels. 2022

Last month, my daughter and I boarded a plane to Florida having a mini girls trip along with visiting our other fellow awesome mother daughter duo. Also, I was really excited to see what my stellar friend, Christian Pitre-Davis was whipping up this time with all her beauty expertise. (And whipping she did!)

A little back story…

Christian is a certified esthetician (for over 15 years now) along with being licensed in Lash Extensions (my lashes were fabulous, top notch when she was doing them) and she always had a knack about mixing up or creating her own concoctions of beauty. I remember one time, she wanted to have La Mer face cream. Given the price, it wasn’t practical, so what does she do? Finds a sample, studied the ingredients, searched for a place that sold those ingredients (and because she is certified, she got them wholesale) and viola! She whipped up some La Mer for her and I. (Being a mermaid, I just loved that she found a place to sell the kelp that goes into it.)

Do you know anyone else who would do that?

Nope, neither do I.

*Christian would want me to include now that she created her own beauty line, that La Mer has a lot of terrible and non clean ingredients. We get wiser as we have more years on this planet, don’t we!

We have been close friends for over a decade now, and our girls are the best of friends. When Christian and her daughter lived in California (and just around the corner from us) the girls started out as mermaids (my place) to doing entertaining Tik Tok’s together ( formerly known as Musicaly’s ). While they would go off and play (or today, gossip and more Tik Tok’s) we would have our Boozy Beauty days.

What exactly is ‘Boozy Beauty’ days?

It is when Christian would call me up saying, “Hey, I just took a course on lashes, come on over and let me put some on you,” or “Hey, I got this new beauty wand, facial mask, wax….etc” and there was always a bottle of champagne involved. Gorgeous and goofy is this gal friend!

Christian’s comical face as she waxes her own legs. Also, how she feels now about toxic products.

One day when we both went in to get our Botox together, (yes, we do it. No shame. And no angry 11’s for us!) the lady at the desk overheard us talking about having a glass of bubbly after our appointment, and she raised her eyes, “You can’t drink after Botox!”

We still did and giggled about it. Back in the day, it was our version of Rock n Roll mama’s keeping up with all the beauty treatments out there. We have since matured, but our fun and mutual devotion to ageless beauty hasn’t at all subsided.

So when Christian texted me earlier this year that she started her own Clean Beauty line, I wasn’t even surprised. In fact, I immediately thought, “Well, duh! That makes total sense! Why wasn’t this a thought a few years ago?!” My daughter and I had been planning to come out and visit them when they moved to Florida, but the pandemic and life happened. We were long over due…and I was excited to try her new products and once again be her gorgeous guinea pig. Haha.

(Cruelty free are her products. Only human tested. On me. And her family. We are all still alive and look better for it.)

Divine timing really is something, though.

My daughter and I arrived dazed and excited from our red eye and on the way to their place, Christian is filling me in on all her scrubs and body butter ideas, baby line, house products etc. The scrubs sounded like something I wanted to eat and she laughed, “Well, that’s sort of the point, its safe enough for your skin and if it gets into your mouth or anything, you are not ingesting anything toxic.”

Her products are mostly about 2 to 3, 4 ingredients. All things natural and you can spell and pronounce their names!

Once at her place, Christian orders me into the bathroom to try one of her scrubs. Three things are going through my mind rapidly.

1. I don’t do face scrubs (Thanks St. Ives Apricot Scrub for making that happen.)

2. If my face is red and blotchy, at least I am at an esthetician’s house and Christian will fix me.

3. A good face scrub cleaning DOES sound great right now after a 5-hour flight.

I first notice the super cute packaging she had put together. (Also eco-conscious.) Glass jars with cork lids, first time plastic ones with her label branded, and the darling bamboo scooper. When Christian opens the jar for me, I am soothed by the sweet, yet calming aroma. I wet my face and take the dive, tentatively rubbing it on my face. The sugars are finely grained and don’t feel harsh on my face at all. The oils it is mixed in also immediately feels smooth and silky on my face.

Dare I say, it felt down right….Heavenly!

Following Christian’s advice, I PAT my face dry. (You don’t rub.) I go to reach for my moisturizer and face oil…only to realize, I don’t need them.

Let me say that again.

Using Christian’s The Righteous Line’s face scrub, I didn’t NEED to put on moisturizer and/or face oil after!

Instantly, I was hooked! Over the next few days staying with Christian and her family, I got to try out her coffee scrub (glorious!), a tinted lip scrub (still in the making), the body butter (that will make you feel like you are dressed in silk and smell… very sensual) and another scrub that had lavender infused in it. (Personal favorite.)

I also got to feel like her wing woman again for a day when we got all dolled up and hit small businesses and the local farmers market to give out samples and find her product multiple homes to sell it in.

Then, I became her Beauty Drug Lord.

Besides going home with my own jars of coffee scrub, soothing brightening scrub, and a body butter sample, I also had multiple packs of scrub and butter body (pictured above) to travel back to Los Angeles with. (One of the salons is in Burbank, so I am excited for it to be carried near me!)

Because I don’t like to check my bag, (I try my best to mainly do carry on), I had the pleasure of being pulled aside by TSA to search my bag because of the 2 jars of scrub, and then this ziplock baggy of samples. Not sure if it was my bras carelessly packed on top or that when he was reading The Righteous Line Labels, he got the message, but he quickly put my suitcase together and let me through! Whew!

RIGHTEOUS it was! Haha!

As I write this blog review, The Righteous Line has a NEW scrub currently on their Etsy. The “Water into Wine” Cabernet antioxidant face/body scrub. Which I totally went to order this week, plus more of the coffee scrub. My daughter seems to have been using my original. Usually, I like to share…usually. But these scrubs are sooo amazing, that I want to horde them to myself. You can use them on your face and body! Safe all around.

And apparently teen approved. Both our daughters use the scrubs and love the results!

I also noticed the body butter is back on her Etsy!

You need to stay on top of it, though. Christian’s products go fast and she needs a few days in between to whip up another round of fresh, FRESH, batches, along with always creating new product to add to her line, like this wine scrub I am dying to use when it arrives.

Overall, I am now a certified lifetime customer. Not just because she is one of my dearest, closest friends, and I love to give my support, but also because Christian’s products are the real deal!
